PM is acting weird on me

my PM doesn't reset to zero when I read it, and then builds up to several messages, but when
I open it , it says 'no messages', yet the messages are in the saved threads......... like I said weird....
hard to tell when I have a new message, thanks

if u click on "today" rather than " x new messages", then u should be able to clear it
