would this one be fine?

Corsair CMX512-3200C2PRO 512MB DDR400 XMS3200 ProSeries Memory w/Heat Spreader Retail

The CMX512-3200C2PRO is a 512 MByte, two-bank, ultra-performance DDR SDRAM DIMM designed specifically for gaming applications. This part delivers outstanding performance at high clock speeds and very low latencies. As part of Corsair's new XMS ProSeries, this module includes the new high-efficiency aluminum XMS heatsink, and 18 activity LED's that show the level of memory activity on each bank. It has been tested extensively in a variety of motherboards commonly used in gaming rigs. This memory has been verified to operate at DDR400 (200 MHz, 2-3-3). This module is also available in matched pairs of TwinX modules tested as a set in a dual channel DDR motherboard.

So would I. Get 2x256 of the stuff with Winbond chips. Newegg had it for $36 shipped per 256mb. link

1 stick of 512 is fine. Dual channel won't help much and it increases the small chances of getting a bad stick. I'm running a single stick of 512 Buffalo PC3200 at 11-3-3-2 (pretty much optimal on an nForce2 board) timings without a hitch.

Bah...the 5% proformance increase is well worth the "risk" of getting a bad stick. Why get a dual channel board, then not use it??

And the option to upgrade later without having to pull your old RAM out is worth the unnoticeable performance drop.
