1. I bought parts of a new computer and I haven't set it up yet; however I need help if I need a surge protector or a UPS

If I need a UPS how many watt and VA rating that I need ???

This is what I usually plug in

Printer
DSL Modem
19" Monitor
Computer

New Computer Specs (haven't set it up yet):

Athlon 64 X2 4800
ASUS A8n32 SLI Deluxe
PC P&C Turbo Cool 850 W PSU
2 GB Dual Channel
Raptor 74 GB
WD 400 GB
WD 250 GB

Also I live in So-Cal Los Angeles so far my old computer runs "OK" without a UPS I just use Surge Protector

2. Could some one recommend me a DVD/CD RW Combo ??? I was thinking of getting Plextor but I don't know which model also my budget would be about $100

3. I'm thinking of going 7800 GTX 512 (only one because I'm not willing to go SLI as of yet -) or should I get x1900xt by ATI ??

Also would the parts that I already bought support X1900XT ???

PS: Yes I'm aware that I dont have an audio card yet but I'm going to get Audigy 2ZS

1. I don't think it's necessary unless you constantly have important data running on your rig that you wouldn't want to lose in a power outage. If your power rarely goes out, you probably don't need one and a good quality surge protector will do. If you're paranoid, just go for the UPS.

2. Why bother with a DVD/CR-RW comb drive when you can get a good DVD burner for just a few dollars more. The NEC ND-3550a is a very popular and reliabe DVD/CD burner for a good price.

3. Though the X1900XT is generally faster, since you have an SLI mobo, you should probably go for the 7800GTX so that you can go SLI later. The x1900xt should work with your setup, though.
