plz HELP, my Golden Orb is increasing cpu temp by 20 degrees C!!

hi, my Orb just came today and i installed it... i twisted the top so it is on VERY tight, but now i am getting blue screens of death ALL the time.. its a miracle im actually posting this.

This happens even i put my cpu back down to 566...I cant do anything that stresses the cpu, blue screen of death will pop up instantly.

if anyone has any experience with golden orbs please respond.....

BTW with the orb on its running at about 63-65 degrees C it used to run at about 40 degrees C

Did you clean off the old thermal stuff? Did you apply new stuff? Did you apply only a thin layer?

the Orb came with thermal stuff on it .. was i supossed to remove it ?

Be sure that the Gorb is flat and flush and in full contact with the chip. If it is not then it cannot transfer the heat properly.

Did you bump the voltage?
When you reset it to 566, did you reset the voltage?

BTW - The Golden Orb sucks. It's a cheap performer that does well for it's price point but for like $5 more you could have gotten a GW FOP32 that does so much better and comes with a real fan.

Neither does the FOP32. The old FDP32s did...but not the FOPs

Desop, did you remove the plastic film that protects the compound ??
Sometimes I've even seen two layers of film.
