System Specs:
Epox 8k7a w/ 1.33 amd tbird
256x2 pc2100 crucial ram
geforce 3 64mb

Original Symptoms: Computer posts to bios, then keeps rebooting at bios (after checking the memory) and posting the CPU speed. It kept doing this in a repeating cycle.

I got a new power supply and that did not solve the problem. I swapped out the g3 with a friends 8500 and it booted fine to windows.

SO I bought a new g4 4200 to replace the g3, but now the computer no longer posts at all just a complete black screen. I tested the g4 4200 into another computer and it works, and I tried a radeon 7000 in my computer and IT posts to windows!!!

So does my computer not like Nvidia anymore, or is the mobo not supplying enough power to the AGP slot or what??

Any ideas?

since originally the problem was rebooting after checking the memory, have you thought about a bad RAM chip? try using one without the other and boot with the gf4, will it work? just throwing out an idea here.

Sounds very possible... Unplug everything extra that you can and pull your PS out of your other system. I understand you bought a new one, but I don't know if you are buying quality power supplies or cheap generic ones. Could also be a specific motherboard problem where you may want to look into the manufacturer and see if they know anything.
