im going to use a dfi lanparty nf4 sli-dr MoBo since it has amazing oc ability and is right along the asus i was wondering what would be a good VC to go with it? this is my first comp and these are the parts: all parts are from newegg.com also can u recommend better ram if needed to oc as well and for what price thanks

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI $174+$3.50 ship

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 $194+free ship

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit $80+$4.33 ship

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ ST3160827AS 160GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 $94.25+$3.99 ship

SONY MPF920 Beige 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive - OEM $9+$3 ship

NEC ND-3520A Beige IDE DVD Burner - OEM $48.99+free ship

thats the basics also wondering should i save $50 and get AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 for $149 or is the OC that much better on the 3200

id like to keep ram under 150 maybe even 170 if deal good enough i was reading an sli article about ocz broader bandwidth for OCing was better

yea i saw some comparisons between 6600 and 6800 a 6800 that i saw at newegg is same price as the x800xl is it as good as that both were right at 295$

ya that was an AGP...if ur budget stretches upto 300 i would go AHEAD with the 6800GT for $295

I've heard that corsair vs is having problems with that board, so I would recomend ocz's value vx. It can do 230-250 fsb at 2-2-2-6 when the voltage is high enough.

thanks guys yea i was also thining about going witha 128mb card since not lot games can really lag a good one but i might but spend the extra money and get a 6800gt that has is sli cpable and pci express

6600 gt or 6800gt, it really depends on how much you think the extra performance is worth.

as mentioned, the vx is good stuff but requires a ton of volts to really shine and therefore you'll need some good cooling. the ocz plat rev2 is great for that board too. check out dfi.street. and btw, valu ram and dfi usually don't mix real well. if you have the 150-170 to spend on ram stay away from the value. if you do get value, get the ocz vx as mentioned.

thanks i beliece ima go with the msi 6600gt and on the ocz is it worth the extra 35 bucks to get the performance instead of the value?

no, thats a hynix chip, it oc's like crap. i couldn't get over 220 with that stuff no matter what i did. i emailed the rep at ocz and he admitted that its a terrible match for the nf4 and dfi in particular.
