Hi guys,
Currently, I have NEC AccuSync 95F CRT Monitor right now. I have a question about the picture quality. I knew that my picture quality is kind of blurry.. is it supposed to be like that? I have Hecules Geforce 2 32mb video card by the way.. One of my friends have Dell 19" flat screen CRT, and i noticed that my monitor don't offer excellent picture quality if I compare to dell's... is it because of my graphic card? Will I get better picture quality if I get a better graphic card?
Please help..
Thank you.

A number of things decide the quality of the picture displayed on your monitor. The monitor being the main one.

Graphics cards are so advanced these days there really isnt much difference in 2D quality.

If you are reffering to 3D quality then a faster graphics card will run games etc with much better quality.

Also flat screen CRT's display a better image than normal CRT monitors, and produce less glare.

Also make sure your refresh rates are at the max the monitor will support, or at least around 85hz.

If the refresh rate is at 60hz you will probably also notice a slight blurryness from the monitor, where your eyes are picking up the scans from the monitor.

Hope some of those help you :)

Perhaps something is wrong with the 2D piplines on the GPU?

Im not totally sure tbh and im not going to comment on something im not sure about.

Have you checked your refresh rates in windows?

If it is your refresh rates like ive said, in games you wouldnt notice the blurryness at all, as things are rarely stationary in games, as opposed to a windows dekstop.

Check your refresh rates, if its on 60 in windows then bump it up until it wont go up anymore ;)

See if that sorts your problem first :)

Yeah thats fine.

What exactly looks blurred on screen? Anything in particular?

Anyone else got any ideas? :)

The reason your monitor has a nice picture in a game and a blurry one in windows desktop is quite simple:
In game, everything is moving, the resolution is lower, the images drawn are movie - like, etc. That all makes even a relatively bad monitor look OK.
But on windows desktop, what you are displaying are some icons and some text. In order for text not to be blurry, you need a good monitor. You probably have some minor convergence problems that should be fixed. I don't recall you ever specifying the resolution you use. If the monitor is of a lower quality, 1152 x 864 is the top resolution you can affort. Try lowering your resolution to 800x600 (just for test). I bet the image will be clear there. Then increase it until you get to the highest that still has an OK image.
