I have a DELL Dimension 4600 machine with a ATI RADEON 9800 PRO video card.

In the last 2 months, 3 times I've noticed that when I boot up my machine i get the error:

"Previous Fan Failure, hit F1 to continue or F2 for setup"

Since it's happened on 3 times in the last 2 months, is this problem worth fixing by calling DELL or can I ignore it?

i never changed or altered my fan in any way. i get the message from the hardware DELL originally installed.

If it is in warranty, then call their support line and see what they say.
If they want the machine back, then, that is what you paid the extra for [Dell not being the cheapest].

Make sure you backup all your data, including docs/pics/etc/ email settings - '123 outlook express' will do this for you nicely, or 'Backrex'
Good luck
