Last week we had a new steam boiler installed and after its installation we have noticed that the hot water coming from the bathtub and the washing machine is no longer hot. It is barely luke warm. It comes out hot in the bathroom sink as well as the sink next to the washer.

The only thing different about those two seems to be that they mix hot and cold water and somehow the ratio has been screwed up. When I shut off the cold water pipe to the washer and turn it on it fills it with hot water like it is supposed to. Is there something I can do to fix this before I give them a call? They also installed an auto feeder that grabs hot water from the boiler into the furnace (we had to monitor this in the past to make sure the furnace didn't run out of water).

Sorry, I've got no plumbing advice for you, but since it was a brand new install I'd call them to come back out and make whatever adjustments need to be made so it works right. New stuff should work like new, IMHO.

It could be that the mixing valve need to be reset (the temperature of the hot water only that come out of your spout should be between 120~140F). And/or it could also be that the boiler can't keep up with the full flow of the tub or washer.

It is common for boiler to be use in commercial and industrial application (however they still have hot water storage tank/s), and residential tend to have hot water tank or on demand tankless hot water heater.
