Plugin not found

Hi there my computer recently installed windows updates when I booted it up and it completely hosed my computer. The only Windows error I got was something about my AMD Radeon driver has went to default mode due to system failure, or something like that. Odd because a new Radeon driver was in the updates.

After about an hour of trying different things like repair or fix updates, nothing worked. Everything I tried either didn't work or froze the computer.

I was able to go back to a restore point from a week earlier and that fixed the problems, however soon as I turned off the computer and rebooted, Windows installed the updates again.

This time everything seems fine except I can't play some of my videos, it say's "plugin not found" or something to that effect. When I try to install Adobe Flash is says "Google Chrome already has the latest version" or something like that.

When I go to Chrome, more tools, taskbar....I see "Plugin-shockwave flash" running.

Can anybody tell me what the problem is an how I can fix it so I can watch video's again.

I'm using Windows 10 and Google Chrome.

google runs its own internal version of flash, that is why installing shockwave does not help it. Since you don't hint at what the video is from I can't help any further. Most video players today have gone to HTML 5, too.

I don't know how I would know what kind of video it is......other videos play just fine. I even tried to do a survey today that required me to watch a short video clip and same thing, plugin not found.

Whatever was in that update caused this. I'm still getting the "Radeon has been set to default driver due to unexpected system failure" every time I boot the computer.

I can't believe I'm the only person having a problem with this, am I the only person running Windows 10?

I'm running an Athlon 5350 without a video card. Am I supposed to install Radeon drivers or Apu drivers?

If this is what you have, take Radeon R3 drivers.

So choose "Radeon Drivers" or "APU drivers"? There's no option for "R3 drivers" and neither option lists a R3.

or you can go to AMD website and click Drivers+Support then click Drivers + Download Center. Click on Download now under Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver.

Computer is running fine with the exception of not being able to play some video formats.

Any idea what is going on here? Should I go back to the old driver if I can find it ?(don't know which I had though).

first thing I would do is to uninstall the video driver in Programs and Features.

then run the autodetect from AMD.

Depending on the site, some sites that have "movie links", will ALWAYS say that you "need to install Flash Player"... and just as conveniently, they have a download link right there... Flash_Player_with_a_virus_dropper_wrapper.exe.

is the plug-in issue only found in chrome or is this issue about playing a video from your hard drive? or both?

did you try uninstalling chrome and then re-installing it?

how about posting a link to a problem video so we can see what plug-in is required?

Iron Woode, it's Chrome or IE, NOT video's from HD. No I have not re-installed Chrome.

Here's an example, go to this link, on the right top there's a weather forecast video, I can't view it cause it say's "Couldn't load plug-in" where the video is.

Even a simple Nielson Survey that I have to complete for work, where you watch a short clip and answer questions about it, same thing, "Couldn't load plug-in", but other video's play fine.

I don't know how to tell which video formats are not loading and which ones are.

UPDATE. I've fixed the problem at least temporarily. I uninstalled Chrome and re-installed. I then went to programs and uninstalled everything AMD including running the AMD full uninstall of everything.

Then did the auto-detect and update on AMD's website, surprisingly it said I already had the latest drivers installed, even though when I go to "programs", there is absolutely nothing AMD in there......so I'm really confused, but everything is working now.

However i have a feeling Windows is just going to do another update and mess it all up again. We will see.

Then go to: Advanced system settings, the Hardware tab, Device installation settings, select No (your device might not work as expected).

Ok I get it, then video drivers must have showed before because I installed them myself along with chipset drivers when I first built the computer.

Thanks I did that under system, but it said for apps and icons, it didn't say anything about driver updates.
