Hello everyone....

I managed to get a kak worm last week and it was caught by my NAV, version 5.0 for Win 98. I couldn't use this version to download the patch to make the necessary repairs. So I went to Symantec's website like a good little user, BUT....when I try to d/l the patch "Fixkakb.exe" located at (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/kak.worm.b.fix.html) I get an error that says "The plugin did not initialize properly".

I also get this same error when I go to Microsoft's website to d/l a patch for Outlook Express/Internet Explorer, older versions v4/5.0 also to address this issue.

I've downloaded many files and have not gotten this error. I may not the most up to date system: Win 98, 128MRAM, plenty of HD space etc, but I have never gotten this error before.

Does anyone have any idea what plugin this might be and how I can get it so I can d/l this patch????

I've looked thru Symantec's website but don't see anything about a special program to download this patch, and while a bit outdated I have not had any other troubles downloading any other files off the webb.

Hope someone can helpout.....thanks!!

There is a couple of things you can try. You can try downloading the fix on another computer and putting it on a disk and trasnfer it into your computer.

What version Internet Explorer do you have? The Plug-in error you have seems to be related to the browser. You can doing a "repair" by going to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS (INTERNET EXPLORER) under CONTROL PANEL and clicking on the option repair. Or you can try reinstalling Internet Explorer at least version 5.0 sp2.

MacaroneePenguin....

Thanks for the ideas. Actualyl I downloaded the IE/Outlook patch from work and loaded it. I may have to do teh same with the repair tool as well. It's a good idea, btu I would like to fix whatever is causing this weird plugin problem too. I will try the repair tool idea and see if that helps. Maybe upgrading to a newer version of IE would help too ya think??

Anyway, thanks for the help and ideas....hopefully I can get this fixed!
