Plug and Play Monitor

Hi all,

Plug and play is the specification used to allocate the resources ( Memory, I/O, IRQ) to devices without any conflicts. Simply the specification's purpose to configure the device without human intervention.

The output device monitor does not require any resources (like Memory , I/O, IRQ). It simply process the signal from VGA card.

So I am confusing why my monitor says plug and play monitor? What is there to implement plug and play concept in the monitor?

Please clarify me

windows will talk to your monitor and automatically detect what kind it is and install monitor-specific drivers if windows natively supports your monitor.

if you're monitor was found as "plug and play monitor" that just means that windows recognizes it, but didn't install any specific drivers for it. almost all new monitors are plug and play.

i've never seen too many advantages for installing specific drivers for your monitor, except for the fact that windows then knows exactly what resolutions and refresh rates it is capable of.
