Hi,

I need a non-SLI, non-overclocking board to put a dual core s939 (opteron 170 vs. X2 4400) board on.

What is the best board given these things. I will use it for scientific usage (no gaming).
Thanks

I have an Asus A8N-E and am happy with it. I have stressed this board since day 1 and it is rock solid (since Oct 29th)
250 X 9
267 X 9
275 X 9
289 X 9
303 X 9
322 X 8.5
333 X 8
etc etc
Oh my only gripe is the loud chipset fan but it is not that bad - I can live with it.

Personal I would go with one with on board video. Most top tier motherbaord are equally stable when you don't overclock.

Get a either a motherboard with the NV 6100 or ATI Express chipset.
Look for:
MSI, Gigibit, ASUS, or biostar as the maker.

What OrSin said. Integrated video has come a long way, and is really very good for non-gaming usage, in addition to being quite cost effective. Most of the integrated video boards are also matx, letting you enjoy a smaller case package.

These boards use the current top end nvidia 6150/430 integrated video chipset-

I don't think I'd go with the foxconn, but any of the other 3 would do just fine...

Check out the V and Z series Inwin cases, too... they're excellent for matx boards, and come with decent psu's as part of the bargain...
