Hi guys,

I purchased the K7N2 Delta2-LSR motherboard two days ago.The H/W sensors do not show the CPU fan speed and temperatures correctly.

Core Center (MSI's Software for system monitoring inside windows)displays CPU fan as "slow" and CPU/SYS temperatures as 44/36 degrees respectively. The values don't change and are constant all the time regardless of load.

I have already disabled "SMART FAN" function in BIOS in order for core center to work properly.

In BIOS it self shows the CPU fan as "0"rpm when the fan is actully rotating and the temperatures are constant all the way no matter what the system load is.

BUT I discovered that when the system has been shut down for overnight or main supply is switched off for a short while and then restarted, the bios shows fan speed as 3600~3800rpm and temperatures falls & rises + - 1 to 2 degrees which makes more sense. But it works only for around 2 mins and back to "0" for fan speed and shows constant temperatures again. The sensors stop working or "hang" after around 2 mins.

I have tried the MSI liveupdate 3 and it says I have the latest BIOS and don't have to flash it.

There is also no fault with the CPU fan as I have tried connecting a build in speed sensor fan to the NB and the result is the same. Both CPU and NB fans are shown as "0"rpm. I am using the AMD stock fan which came with the processor in the box and it has speed sensor build in. And i have the fan connected to the mother board header(3 pins) and not the psu.

There are no other problems except for this. Normal operations are smooth. After all this trouble shooting I have come to the conclusion that the hardware sensor chip is faulty. If any one knows other wise whats wrong. Please advice on what to do next. Its only 3 days old and I only noticed some thing was wrong when i noticed temp being constant at 34 degrees and CPU fan speed as "0". MSI is not replying to my email.please someone help me.In the future I'm going to AOpen and Asus boards and never will I ever touch MSI's Products again.

Are you sure the fans are plugged into the right connectors?

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much, as long as the sys is stable.

Might put Motherboard Monitor 5 on there and see what it can do with the mobo sensors. If it reads properly, I'd guess it's not the mobo sensors but the other proggie not working properly.

thanks guys, anyway it was the board which had a faulty sensor chip. I called up the local distributer and after i convinced them that nothing is wrong with the bios or any software as bios it self is acting funny and I sincerly belive the IC chip was faulty, they told me to bring it down for testing and when I did, they confirmed it and gave me a new board. Now ecverything is working fine :) Am a happy man now lol...its a good board after all but just need to have a higher standard of QC before they retail their products.
