I've got a spare PC. Recently, wihle at desktop, the pc will automatically lose video signal and the casing power led is still on.

Then I off the whole system from the main switch. After few secs later, I on the system. No video signal is detected and the casing power led is on and other than hearing the hdd sound for a while, nothing seems to move at all.

However, sometimes I'm able to on the pc and the system able to boot to desktop but after using a while, it will lose video signal again and the casing power led is still on.

What could be casuing the problem?? Help appreciated! 🙂

there are a bunch of things to try to start narrowing it down

first i would download memtest (at memtest.org) and run it from a floppy disc

also check your motherboard for bulging/leaking capacitors

I've opened up my casing and on the pc. the HSf isn't spinning. Could this be attributed to failure of cpu causing no booting up?

Yes, that is a problem. Replace the fan with a new one and see if the problem is fixed 🙂

the problem is that i think the fan isn't spoil because I tested it. I connect a 12V supply to the fan it turned. However, i suspect is the cpu fan connector on the mobo that isn;t functioning. How can I solve this problem of mobo cpu fan connector is spoilt?

I've checked all caps. No bloated or leaky caps

You can buy a converter that plugs into a four-pin power-supply plug and powers your CPU fan directly from the power supply, instead of from the motherboard.
