Masters,

computer novice here....

I can't believe ATI is charging me $1.25 per minute for tech support...screw them.

This newlly installed Radeon AIW 8500 128 mb won't output any audio when watching
TV on my Dell 4550 computer. I do not have a separate sound card (integrated sound)
and an audio cd plays just fine from the dvd drive. I checked all troubleshooting guides,
but it seems all is running properly. Do I need a sound card to get audio from the AIW?

AM I MISSING A SIMPLE CONNECTION OF SOME SORT???

Secondly, the TV tuner won't tune to channel 2. It skips the channel when I channel surf.
Even when I utilize the auto channel add function, it does not recognize channel 2. Faulty
card?

Pls advise.

Thanks in advance.

You have to hook the AIW to your soundcard (whether its a seperate or onboard) either Externally (AIW 9000 and AIW 8500 have the same connectors) or internally Just use the corresponding connectors for your onboard sound (I use the onboard sound for my AIW 9700 pro...works great)

Hows your signal strength? The lower channels (1-6) are more susceptable to poor signal strength, I had to use a signal booster for decent reception on my AIW 9700 for channels 1-6 on the same line my AIW 7500 tunes perfect, you may have different issue however since mine affected all the lower channels.

Check the forums at Rage3D.com also, lots of help if you wade through the mess there.

Thanks to several member's help, I got the audio to work.

But what I also found out is that my master volume keeps
going back to its initial setting each time I turn the tv tuner
on and off. I don't know why, but the volume is set very low
with the MUTE botton checked for both 'cd player' and 'line in.'

I would uncheck the MUTE and adjust the volume, but then, when
I turn the tv off and turn it on again, they are MUTE again (MUTE
button checked)

What can I do to apply my setting permanently?

CH. 2 STILL NOT WORKING.....I guess I will have to call ATI tech support....
