if you have onboard video make sure it's disabled in the bios, also make sure your new 8800GT is installed in the first\top PCI-E slot. Make sure to uninstall any drivers for your old video card also.
Next goto nvidia.com and download the latest drivers

what operating system are you running?
when you goto device manager does it show up there?

does the card show up in the windows device manager?
control panel-> system -> device manager

if it does, or even if "standard VGA adapter shows up" right click on them click uninstall, then click the box in device manager that says "Scan for plug and play compliant hardware" then it should find it.
Once it shows up in device manager right click again and click "properties" then click update driver. point it to the location where the nvidia drivers are extracted. I guess before you do this you should open the latest nvidia drivers so it extracts the files somewhere, usually c:\nvidia

Hope that helps.

your psu looks really weak, especcially if its generic. might want to look into that.
