pls help. I can't use the run utility on windows XP pro

Whenever i go to run like msconfig, regedit, or even a command the screen appears for about 2 secs then closes. Please help, THx

Sounds like you have a virus. I've seen this before on several systems I've worked on. The virus kills any utility you try to open that could keep it from running. Try going into safe mode to see if you can access these utilities. Try updating & then running your anti-virus. If it will not run, that will be a sure sign. You may have to slave your hard drive off another computer and run its anti-virus on your hard drive to get rid of it. Good luck!

Sounds like the commands are not running correctly. What you should do is type "cmd" in the run box. This should open up the command processor. Then enter the command you are trying to use and see if there is an error message.

Explanation: the run command opens the command processor (cmd.exe) and will immediately exit if the command cannot run. Because it exits immediately, you don't see any error messages that might help you determine what is wrong. By opening up command processor (the "MSDOS prompt" -- well, an emulation of one), you can see if there are any error messages that you are missing when you try do run the command in the run dialog.
