I would appreciate getting expert input on my problem. recently bought and installed act of war and found out that cannot run on ati 9600 xt despite new active x 9c installed. after installing and uninstalling the game, noticed that after a few minutes the text become blurry to unreadable and then random pixels everywhere to the point you have to reboot. my rig asus k8v, athlon 64 3000, 1gb ram, samsung syncmaster 910t, and ati radeon 9600xt. before installing act of war this problem did not exist. I believe it is a software problem or video card problem not lcd problem. thanks very much:disgust:

regarding the problem .... does the blurryness and weird pixels happen even when you quit Act of War? Have yu installed the newest drivers?

does this problem happen on other games also?? or/and does it occur on ur desktop also...i would recommend reinstalling all ur drivers!

I installed the new direct x 9c from microsoft and latest set of ati drivers for the card and now act of war has been uninstalled and this problem seems to occur most frequently when playing videos divx, mpg, and much less so with wmv. Just curious why this is and random pixels and blurry text also can occur if switching between apps really fast. Pls help. thank you both very much. if all else fails consider getting a nvidia card and may be reformatting windows all together. I doubt that this is a monitor problem which normalizes after reboot. It is likely bad card and more likely software driver issue or other hidden problems due to the idiots at microsoft.

So this only started after you began playing Act of War? If thats true, what games did you play before Act of War?

Could be the graphics card overheating, check that the fan on the card is running.

I have an asus 9600xt if you want i can check act of war on it? I think i'm using the newest (or 2nd newest) catalyst drivers? I remember kotor with the grass issue only on the 9600 series

thank you very much all 3 of you for the helpful comments. I have tried all of these approaches except taking the card out and trying it on another pc. Interest enough is that with reboot, the problem resolves instantly but time in which problem recurs shortens with each reboot. pls test your system with act of war. it is a fantastic game from screen shots perspective but as far as I know you need faster card than 9600xt but I wish you luck in trying and pls let me know if you can impart any words of wisdom to a fellow frustrated gamer. thanks again.🙁
