Hi ya's,

Could the experts please come forward. :)

Got a few questions:

1.) Since it appears that any KT266A based motherboards aren`t going to be out for quite some time (or at least, not for a couple of weeks, especially here in Canada), what motherboard is the fastest, most reliable, and the Thermalright SK6 fits on available today for the 1.4Ghz 266mhz Athlon? Possibly links to comparing AMD760 vs. KT266...

2.) What power supply Wattage will I require, with the 1.4 CPU, Gforce2 MX, x2 nics, x2 case fans, Turtle Beach sound card, 7200rpm IDE HD, and other regular stuff. I guess the CPU is the major factor here?

3.) Anyone use the Antec SX830 case? How you like? Good enough power supply?

Thanks!

Do you REALLY need it now? I know it sucks, but I'd rather suck it up and wait till the much better performing other boards came out. YOu may not like the idea now, but in a few months you'll be doing nothing but reading on here how awesome they are and you'll want to get one :)

But if you must now, the Epox 87ka seems to have gotten great reviews all over.

Power supply.. I don't know why 300W wouldn't be fine.

And do you already have a GF2MX or are you planning on getting one? You'll be completely wasting your CPU's potential with such a poor card. You'd be better off even getting the Radeon for cheaper and it'll perform better.

Do a search on shippers to canada, I believe there's been plenty of people asking that question and getting satisfactory results.

Shudder,

Thanks for the response. To answer your questions, yes I do need to know, cause I need a new computer in a week or so, and I won`t to spend my money very wisely, since I don`t have money to waste.

Re: Power Supply -- I was under the impression that you needed an approved AMD PS for the 1.4Ghz processors.

I already have an Asus V7100 GF2MX... and I`m not a "big" gamer. I play Grand Prix Legends, GP3, some Quake, and soon a flight Sym. This is only a couple times a month, especially while at school. :) What do you recommened as a replacement, with little mulla?

I always, like lots of others, pimp out the Radeon LE for 71 bucks.. but that's a US company and US $ Might not be worth the hassle.

At someone just mentioned some ECS board for 62 US$ If so, that's damn cheap and if you ever want to upgrade you'll feel better about losing a 62$ motherboard instead of a 130$ one.

Don't know for sure on the power supply.. I figure if it works for the lower speeds overclocked it should work with the higher ones which would probably be using the same voltage.

You have two choices for motherboard. If you are not overclocking and are on a budget, the ECS K7S5A is a great buy at only $65 it includes a NIC built into the motherboard. It uses the SiS 735 chipset. If you are overclocking, I suggest the EPoX EP-8K7A. It will run you about $120. It has a lot of overclocking features and uses the AMD 761 northbridge with a VIA 686B southbridge. Both are great motherboards, I personally would go with the EPoX since I like overclocking.

I use the SX830 and it's a great case. But I suggest you go with an Antec SX635. The case is a little smaller, but it will easily hold all your stuff you have listed. It costs less and has a more powerful power supply rated at 350 Watts.

Might be doing a bit of overclocking... thanks for the response. I`ll check out the smaller case.

1. Abit KG7-RAID/Gigabyte 7DXR. Those 2 are easily the best 760 boards both for ocing and non-ocing. KG7-RAID is the ocing solution I think to have and is stable as a rock. 7DXR same, can oc too but not as well. Both same price, and Have RAID. 7DXR has a couple extras, an On-board Creative sound chip, and Dual BIOS. You make to call. But for non-ocing, ECS k7S5A is the way to go, is faster than AMD 760 and is only 70US$ and like somebudy said, has on-board LAN.
2. 400W is a must for a Athlon 1.4
3. dUNNO about that one
