Plextor and Yamaha are the top of the line right now (if anybody can prove me wrong then with all respect please do). Which is faster? Has less errors? Has greater reliability?

What problems have you had with these two manufacturers?

IMHO I think Yamaha is faster because of their CAV technology.

But they're most well known for their pianos. They make literally everything except coffins.
 
If you use CloneCD then the Plextor would be better. I don't think that the Yamaha works well with CloneCd.
