Hi there...
I was just curios.. a few months back, I deemed one of the plextor CD-rom drives DEAD at work. Once in a while, it simply goes in to blink mode, and according to the plextor web site, it has something to do with the laser calibration.
What annoys me is, that they recommend shutting down the system and booting up again, then the problem should be solved.
Ocasionally that actually works, which is quite frustrating. Had it been dead all the time, I would face it... it would be dead. But how come it be working sometimes? and is there a way I can fix it?
Last time I almost lost my Black and White CD because it went into jam, just blinking.. thank gawd just pulling the scsi cable shut it down so I could eject it again..
Anyway, help/idea appreciated..
