Ok which one is fastest (best) Ultraplex? the 40X MAX? 40X wide?
was sup with them?

thanks in advance..

oh my controller is a 29160 🙂

I've got the Wide and it rocks my world.

Hoowever, Storagereview.com says the 50 pin Max is far superior and the best of the scsi cd-roms. Go to storagereview.com, hit the "leaderboard" up top, scroll down to optical drives and get pleasured.

The 40x wide was an interesting idea, but CD's fail to take advantage of the extra bus width, so you really don't see any gains. That and the fact that Plextor concentrates firmware updates on the 40x max leads me to suggest just getting the 40x max.
