Plextor Sata 7555SA drive

How are Sata drives for DVD/CDRW drives? I was looking at the Plextor 7555SA to replace my old NEC 3450A drive. Are they faster, quieter etc...

Most SATA II chipsets should support ATAPI drives, but... Make sure before laying out the money - only a few SATA I chipsets support ATAPI. They are usually the same as their PATA counterparts - no faster, no quieter. Most of them use an IDE to ATA bridge chip anyway - I don't think any of the Plextors have native SATA on the PCB. Just like most HDDs, the only real diff. is cleaner wiring.
