Plextor PX-716SA Probs

I've tried burning dvd's and cd's at their rated speeds and the burner won't get past writing the lead in for either format. What gives? I did the latest firmware update and I've used multiple burning programs to no avail. Did I drop $140 for a bum burner when I should've waited another few months for everyone else to come out with an sata dvd burner?

Try installing the ASPI driver from Adaptec unless there is already one installed. I know it says it's for SCSI but humor me. It does seem to solve strange burner problems...
It comes with a utility to check and see if there is an ASPI driver installed and what version it is. It will first unzip its files into the adaptec directory on C:. Then you run aspichk from that folder and then install the ASPI driver if needed.
