Plextor PX-716SA a good drive?

Ok, well since my other thread on optical drives was too hard for people to post to, I figure I'd try this. I picked a drive you tell me if it's ok or if you think its poo... simple.

So anyways, what's up with the Plextor PX-716SA DVD±R/RW CD-R/RW internal Serial ATA ... I've noticed by some people's sigs that they use it. How do you all like it? Any problems or mainly what I'm worried about is compatibility issues. Does it read/write most standards? Any feedback from owners greatly appriciated.

I've had no problems with it, although I could not get it to work when I enabled RAID on my nVidia SATA ports, but moving it over to the SI controller did the trick.

I've wondered too how that SATA drive functions. I realize that there is not speed advantage since opticals don't even saturate an ATA100 bus. But, how do these drives work otherwise? How was the install? Any reason to buy a SATA optical drive instead of an IDE one, other than smaller cables?

The first few 716A drives had issues, but all the problems seemed to be worked out after the first or second firmware updates. The 716SA doesn't seem to have any of those same issues, and most of the reviews I've read seem to like it. If I had the extra cash, I'd probably get either the 716A/SA or NEC equivalent.

Yes Jotho, I'm mainly getting the SATA just for SATAs sake (I don't want to screw with PATA or ATAPI/EIDE at all in this rig (Note the raptor im getting is SATA also)

Plus the cables are smaller for airflow purposes... Because im one of the 10 people in the world thats paranoid about bundled ribbon cables (EMI, crossover, etc.) seein as how I repair radios as a gig, I'm paranoid enough not to do that heh.
