Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40A Not Reading CDs

My CDRW drive is not reading (or writing to) CDs.

Is there anything I can do to try and make it work, or is it likely that the drive just died.

I am running Windows XP Professional and have the burner on its own IDE channel. It worked fine a couple of days ago and I haven't moved the drive.

The exact same thing happened to my 16x plex. When I put any CD in the drive, the light flashed amber twice and that's it. A friend of mine is a tech and he said it is toast. Unless you have something stuck inside like a screw or something, it is likely dead.

Unfortunately, my drive was one month out off warranty so there isn't much I can do. Hopefully, yours is still under warranty.
