Woohoo!! It's out! Not too bad of a price actually. I remember paying this much for my Teac 58s last year. $7 UPS shipping. Of course you can also get free shipping from hypermicro, go to storagereview.com for details.
lundog22 i think you should save your money and keep your current burner... I dont know how much of a difference there is between a 40x and 32x, if any but I dont think you should use your burner for reading cd's because it wears out the laser. In my case I have a 48x cd rom and a Plexwriter 8x and I never use the plex to read cds..
Wear out the lasers!!! I wouldn't worry about that! Your drive is much more likely to become obsolete and unuseable before anything on it wears out. Also the mechanical components are far more likely to fail before a laser gives way. Anybody who owns a Plextor shouldn't have to worry about failure.

My 4X Teac is still running fine after EIGHT years! Don't use it much any more though.
Is this really a good deal or should I wait?
And how long would I have to wait? Are the burners ever going to drop just like RAMs for the past few weeks?
kxy, the best deal right now are those 12/10/32. Plextor brand will cost a bit more then the others, I got my 12/10/32A for $170 shipped after PM & Coupon @ Staples.
hey, is nexcdirect another front-end for ingram-micro like buy.com and computers4sure.com? seems like nexcdirect has the exact same availablility and descriptions as the other two. one way to find out: when i order, does it come from fullerton, ca.
I just wanted to let you know that if you order from hypermicro you can get free shipping on orders over $100 here. Hypermicro is an excellent company. I ordered my Plextor 40x max scsi cdrom from them and I had no problems at all. Excellent customer service. As for the deal, I think I'll stick w/my Plextor 12/10/32 scsi drive for now.
