Hi all,

Last week my wife gifted me a plextor m6e PX-AG256M6e. Here is what I did.

On my existing hdd with windows I uninstalled everything in the programs list and then deactivated windows( but it didn't deactivate as i was not online). I installed the PX-AG256M6e & (instead of cloning) installed fresh windows with all other drives removed.

I updated its firmware after installing the windows( don't remember why)

The pc booted fine and after installing all the drivers and setting a restore point I connected my old hdd(without formatting or anything)

I used this config for 2-3 days while installing only shadow of mordor and a hand full of apps/programs on ssd. I installed less important programs on hdd and 'breach and clear' game on the hdd.

I tried to activate the windows but it said I cant use my key. So I went to boot menu, booted from the hdd and saw that windows wasn't deactivated as I was offline the first time. So, I deactivated it while online, went back and booted from the ssd and tried to activate the windows but still couldn't.

Another piece of info which I think might be useful here:

I installed plextool's latest version and enabled ' drive acceleration'

Last evening while playing B&C the screen flickered and went to boot logo and booted from the hdd.

I restarted the pc and the plextor diagnostic screen showed no ssd installed.

I completely shut down the pc(some guests came) and restarted the pc at night and plextor diagnostic screen showed the ssd but wont boot from it.

I tried booting via ssd by going through the boot menu but after trying for few seconds widows boot from hdd.

So, I started doing some research online and found 2-3 interesting threads.

One is this one. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/disappearing-ssd-syndrome.175417/

Which led to http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Crucial...-that-wouldn-t-detect-in-the-BIOS/td-p/110964

Many people seem to benefit from this but I don't know how can I do this with a pcie ssd:-\

Then I tried to 'refresh your pc' using a bootable pen drive with windows while hdd removed and itis giving an error "disk on which windows is installed is locked. Unlock it and try again"

So, I found this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...s-locked/9fe0c708-1d03-4cab-8523-e80c9b17e124

And went with the recommended step.

I got this after the scndsk (image uploading failing on tapatalk, will upload from a pc)

But the disk is still locked.

What to do.

I can access the ssd fine while booted from the hdd.i can do with some help here.

Update: just for testing i chose to fresh install the windows from bootable media and it is showing 4 partitions on the ssd but windows can't install on any of these since they are in GPT format ??!!
how can the format change after 2 days and while playing a game??

Here's what I would do... using the Plextool, wipe the SSD. Then disconnect the old HDD (and any other hard drives) and clean install Windows and activate (it should do so easily if you are on the same mobo/CPU combo.) Update completely, install what programs you want, then plug in the HDD and move what files you wish over.

An even better alternative would be to have a 3rd drive you could borrow... move all the files you wish to keep off the HDD and wipe the HDD clean of any OS files, then move any files back to a nice, clean storage drive.

Make sure your boot order is set to the SSD in the BIOS.

Basically format both ssd and had carrying OS installs and start from beginning with only ssd installed as boot drive, right?

Luckily I have 2 extra hdds with back up of most of my stuff. I will do that and report back.

I can't seem to activate my windows though. I chatted with MS support and they informed me that this key was bought under a program (some initiative for educational institutions I think) and they asked me to contact them. I have bought this through eBay though :/

Anyways that will come later. First i have to get me ssd to boot.

update: while trying to secure format through plextool it says "security frozen lock might be detected on the drive, so please replug your drive to start secure format!"

My M5Pro did the same thing... I used Acronis to wipe it. What brand of HDD is in your system? Do you have a WD hard drive anywhere you can install in your rig?

i only have toshiba (320gb and 640GB) and samsung(320GB) all 2.5" form factor from my old laptops. i will try acronis in case they have free version.
EDIT: they only have a trial version of disk director 12. will it do the job?

No. WD and Seagate have a free version of Acronis, but you have to have one of those HDs in the system. Even after install, it will fail to run otherwise.

There are other programs like HD Wipe that will do the same thing. Just Google free disk wipe and you should come up with something.

well, i tried to boot the pc and windows boot manager gave an error "Error Code: 0xc0000034- Boot Configuration Data file missing required information"
so, i inserted my recovery pen drive and tried to auto repair. it failed. i tried to refresh and it failed, then i tried reset and it gave me 2 options delete file or secure wipe the disk.
i have chosen secure wipe. lets see.
i can't understand what caused even the hdd to boot. i think plextools is the culprit here. only software that was not present on the hdd was the plextools. now i installed it few minutes back to secure wipe the ssd and hdd's boot files are corrupted too. :(
