Plextor about to release New CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives.

Title says it all. CD-ROM drive is supposed to be 54X and DVD is 16X/I forget - maybe 50X. News article is on: CDR Labs. CD ROM is supposed to be released in Europe by the end of April followed by the DVD at the end of May. No word on USA release.

54x? Does the thing come with a reinforced internal blast shield for CD explosions? I was more interested in the one about Sony making a blue-laser drive. 23.3GB per disc. Then the bad news:
"Also expect to pay a lot of these first generation drives. According to Sony, they will cost about $3,000 per drive and around $45 per disc."

Ok, I guess I won't be buying one for just a little while. Or until Liteon comes out with one a month later that's only $1,200.
