Plextor 716SA incompatiblility

I recently reviewed the compatibility list at the plextor website and found that the 716SA isn't officially compatible with the DFI Ultra-D Mobo. Right now, whenever I try to burn something, my computer freezes.

I've heard this could be a problem with the NVidia chipset...but I dont' know how to uninstall it and configure the standard windows drivers. Also, upgrading the firmware doesn't really do anything, and my mobo only recognizes this as the 716A and not 716SA.

Also, how do you properly run the self-test? I think I'm doing it wrong
