Plextor 256GB M3 Benchmarks

So here is what I got with my drive finally. Took forever for me to get the time to install it and move all the data and get the tweaks right.

2011 15" MBP i7-2720QM @ 2.2GHz 8GB RAM

First run (didn't realize the Boot Camp will not allow AHCI without some hacks):

Enabled AHCI with a MBR hack:

Installed latest Intel Driver:

After that first run I had no idea what was going on so some steady Googling led me in the right direction. There is a guide over on the OCZ forums about how to enable AHCI mode for the Mac with Boot Camp. Followed along without a hitch. Only thing is that I lose the ability to put the computer to sleep on the Win side. Not too big of a deal considering it boots in just a little longer than it used to take to wake from sleep!

You won't need beta drivers to get the SSD to work at full speed. Chances are it's something to do with the MBP. We all know how Apple does what it wants regarding interface standards.

Yes, I think its mac related, but I'd turn power options to high performance, turn CPU minimum to 100% and change hard disk sleep to never. Try benching again after that. My Vertex 2 benches slower in my late 08 unibody than it would in pc with sata 2 ports and here's a comparison of the same SSD on my boards Sata III port.
