plextor 24x firmware update, anything fishy?

I've heard with the past models (16x) that firmware updates screwed with the drive's ability to do SD2 effectivley. Anyone know if the firmware update for the 24x model messes with anything?

16x were never able to do SD2. 12x were supposedly able to.
