just got this drive last night, made a lot of cds had no problems except for my computer locked up on me twice while i was opening some other programs during a burn session. the thing that gets me was that i was in a hurry to get out the door and i know for a fact that it was pretty hot in my room yesterday so there is a chance the lockup was due to heat. but has anyone else had any problems with this, the burnproof is great (didnt have it on my other burner). also i was using nero 5.5.1.8
 
just went to plextors site and found a firmware upgrade to 1.02

"Fixed a bug where a drive hang may occur while decreasing read speed due to a disc read error on RW media"

maybe this will do it 🙂
 
I'm kinda pissed at Plextor right now. I was expecting one of the best drives on the market. Now I see that there are a lot of defective 161040a's out there (dying within months). Also, if you want to burn 700mb cd's faster than a 12x can, you need to update your firmware. Not to mention that this burner doesn't read subchannel data for CloneCD. Is Plextor going downhill?
