I'm looking into this problem. His harddrive is in PIO mode and I'm guessing he's using Win2000 or WinXP. Reverting
to Win98SE will solve that problem.
My quest is try to get 16X cd - cd on the fly burning like I could do in win98se.
my hd is pri master DMA
my cdrom DAE 30x is on pri secondary PIO
my cdrw 16x is on pri master DMA
so I use registry settings and I can get my cdrom to DMA mode. I test copying to hd and voila only 20% CPU compared to the 99%+ CPU usage when in PIO mode. So I'm all happy and content until...
I open either Nero or Discjuggler and attempt to choose CDROM to CDBURNER (on-the-fly) mode and BOMB. In either XP or W2k
the computer completely freezes and no CTRL-ALT-DEL...nothing will unfreeze the computer.
I'm read probably over 300 posts and haven't seen one solution yet. Luckily I have mobile rack and might have to install Win98SE to solve my problem as I've burnt well over 1,000+ cds at 16x SVCD, VCD, etc which requires a good DAE btw. So my answer is I'm still working on it and it doesn't look good for win2k or XP.
a note...I did put my hd in PIO mode and cdrom DMA and cdrw DMA and it freezes the entire computer also...so no luck there.
