Plextor 12/10/32A LED

This is the first CD type drive other that a bog-standard 40X that I've owned, so there may be some new "standard" that I am not aware of that explains my problem.

Basically, my problem is that the LED on the front of the drive is always on when there is a CD in the drive. When data is being read it remains on, with the odd flash off every now and again.

Should this be the case?

On the Plextor 12/10/32A that is normal. When the CD Drive is empty the LED is OFF. When there is a CD in the drive it is GREEN. When it is reading a CD it is YELLOW. When CD is being burned i belive it is ORANGE.
