as it says... i've got a Plextor 12/10/32A ide cdrw that doesn't show up in Windows... yes, it's plugged in. odd thing is that i can see the thing in dos if i load generic drivers for it, can install windows w/ it. windows system properties sees the drive even says it's assigned a drive letter (g🙂, but it will NOT show up in explorer or in a command prompt. and i can't upgrade the firmware, because the firmware upgrade is a windows program, and since it can't see the drive, the upgrade won't go through...

pls help!!!!!!!!!

SUCKS FOR YOU!

AHAHA

Jk man... I hope you get it sorted out... I have no experience with CDRS, none with plextor couldnt help you out there.

Which Windows OS are you running? Win3.1? I have both win2k and win98 SE and both OSes recognize the Plextor on a fresh install. Maybe there's something wrong with the firmware on your drive..or a bad flash..then it's time to call tech support for help or RMA.

hmm I would Sug going to basics.... Disconnect all other IDE devices (except your main HD) & try it than. More Often than not even with these technoligical POS's we all have simplicity normally works...

also.

Make sure your not running it with sompthing that is ata 66 or 100

i have the problem in 98SE, ME, & 2k...

i changed cables, ide channels, power plugs, etc..

looks like i'll have to give plextor a call soon.. 🙁

one simple problem coudl be the jumpers.

Just to know.. are they set properly. It took me an hours and half to find this damn problem on ym friend's machine.
