I posted this already in the Support forum but got no rexpones, so I'm trying it here...
I just installed Windows Me yesterday (clean install) and now I'm having some very strange problems. First off, here's my system:
3dcool.com Tornado 1000 case w/300w PSU
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 850
MSI K7T Pro (VIA KT133)
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2
Voodoo 5 5500 AGP
SBLive Platinum w/Live Drive front panel
Netgear FA311 NIC
Here's how I have my drives set up:
A Promise Ultra 100 PCI controller card has my Seagate Barracuda II 30.6GB as master on it's primary controller
My Kenwood 72X CDROM is master on the motherboard's primary IDE
My Plextor 12/10/32A is master on the motherboard"s secondary IDE
I got the controller card because the Plextor drive has to be the master drive and the Kenwood doesn't like being slave. (was having wierd errors, lockups while extracting audio, etc..)
On to the problems:
The Live Drive front panel has a headphone input on it that is supposed to shut off the external speakers when you plug headphones into it. However, it's not doing this, and in fact sometimes the headphnes don't even work. It's intermitent. I've checked the cables, power, etc... nothing seems to work.
The Plextor drive is now disappearing from my Windows Explorer drive list whenever I enable DMA. It never did this in 98 or 2000. It seems that WinMe has a messed up IDE driver maybe? I've also been getting some of the same types of CD-DA extraction problems with the Kenwood with DMA enabled under WinME. Prior to installing the burner, the Kenwood drive performed absolutley flawlessly with no errors.
As far as the VIA 4in1 drivers go, di I need to install any of those in ME?
Anyone know what's going on here with either of these problems??
