Plex cdrom wont read disk--aopen cdrom will?

I have a scsi plex cdrom and cdr setup and just tried to install UT on the computer after an upgrade. The install failed at a sound file and so I tried it on the burner but no go again. The disk was just used to install on another machine so I tried to copy it and burn from it. Copy worked fine but still no install off the plex. I finally just pulled my ide aopen 50x from another box and connected it to do the install. It worked fine.

At first thought it might be the disk but it seems to work fine with the other burner/readers. Is this common or the sign of a faililng drive?

The odd thing is its just this one file it aborts the install from and it has worked before. Neither plex will read it but I did burn an image using the two plex's and installed the imaged disk on the aopen. The plex does recognize the disk to play the game now, just wont install.

Is it a disk or plex problem?

The game is a little scratched as its been used a lot but works fine on the other boxes.
