Plenty of disk space but can't install

I have a 6 gig HD with 2.5 free. When I try to install a 700 meg program it says there is not enough disk space. Any idea of what might be causing this?

Win 98 SE
6 gig Toshiba HD
Iwill KK-266-R
Crucial 256 PC-133
1.333 Athlon @ 1.5
MSI Geforce 2 Pro

Hehe, had to run scandisk. You would think I would be capable of solving that if I built my own computer. Heh, oops.

It's not uncommon to overlook what may seem too simple to be the solution. When I had problems with power management (unable to set monitor shutoff time) I did a clean Windows reinstall to find that it was a driver issue with my video card. ^_^
