I gotta give it Mueller, Rosntein and all the DOJ for the work they've done and the tact they are using. I think its pretty clear that they have approached this investigation, which is so vast in scope and unprecedented circumstances, with the growing understanding that this will potentially end very badly for this country. By going from internet/social media indictments to russian indictments with a couple breadcrumbs to congress and Americans and then he'll lay out the domestic conspirators. Gently, calmly, quietly laying out the facts while acknowledging the divisiviness and urging us to put partisanship aside.

In the end, I have faith that real American values, along with some sanity, will emerge but its going to be a slow drag with so much fear and division driven into the populace by these despicable, hateful crooks occupying our WH. Somehow they have gaslighted 30% of the people to believe this shit, or at least, agree to sell out their values for a tax break or to harm others- the poor, the 'colors', immigrants, whoever is nect on their fear/hate list.

And then you look, as mentioned, the possibility of a 'war bump', like bush jr enjoyed after 9/11. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/voters/
About a 35% bump for a slam dunk presser and then cowtowing to cheney, rumsfeld, rice as they led us to decades of war. How many kids in Afghanistan are old enough to really remember 9/11?

But I do worry about trump's exit strategy. He knows war, unfortunately, is a great unifier, understandably in almost all previous engagements. Who can predict what this idiot will do, he doesn't even understand what our alliances are for or why they developed..But he really only has a couple potential 'bad guys' to go after; iran, doubt russia would allow it right now. Or NK, which I don't think so, but bolton is trouble if trump is actually listening to him. .

I actually think Iran is more likely because China is actually more of a concern than Russia is (which is why I think Russia is looking for electronic warfare methods they can use to try and hobble the US). Lots of people in our government have been trying to make the case for Iran for decades (its not just crazy hawks like Bolton either, from what I've gathered, our intel agencies in general view Iran as something that should be dealt with), Iran is nowhere close to as problematic militarily as North Korea, and we have other allies in the region (Israel, Saudi Arabia especially) that would benefit and provide support (bases, intel, etc). Even the other countries somewhat aligned with Iran could see benefits from them being toppled (Turkey and Syria for instance, it takes the heat off the latter, and opens up potential spot for Kurds which would help Turkey some), so I don't see them caring too much (although it'll probably push them to buddy up to Russia and China a lot more, realizing they need someone that would give the US pause for rolling in). I think Bolton is selling Turmp on us just going in and laying waste and then get out ASAP (basically the original Desert Storm). I think that is how he'll sell it (fully knowing that's not going to work long term, but this way they could buildup, and do a decisive strike, throw the country into chaos, and pull out, maybe before elections - so they can say its not another unending war like Iraq/Afghanistan, and we won't have time to see that will be total bullshit). Turmp gets to waggle his pathetic little cheetoh dick and Americans will be idiots and buy into it. The full problems will take time to manifest, meanwhile we keep getting a full press about Iran being the enemy so with us or against us back home.

For us to go after North Korea, we absolutely would need South Korea, and probably Japan board, and I don't see that happening. Israel and Saudi Arabi will be more than happy to help us go after Iran though. They're both buffered by the fallout too thanks to Syria and Iraq, although I'd say they should maybe reconsider that, since Syria is still in a state of chaos, and Iraq wouldn't probably take much to get back there. I'm actually starting to wonder if there isn't a longer term plan to do something like nuke a sizable area, as they seem to want to turn a stretch of Syria, Northern Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan into a black hole of chaos, and I have to wonder what they really think that will accomplish by making such a large unstable area. And this way they can make the case for just nuking that whole area. Remind people of America's ability to nuke and send the message that we're losing our aversion to using them, have little consequences (after all, scientists are saying those areas are going to become uninhabitable due to climate change anyway), and take out places they view as incubators for extremism. Thinking about it more, Russia would certainly like to get those former Soviet states north of Iran back, so they might have an active interest in aiding this type of shit too. This would split the middle east (so there's a hard marked line).

I could see them looking at remapping the mideast. Give Afghanistan to Pakistan, Lebanon to Israel, maybe Saudi Arabia gets the southern part of Iran bordering the Gulf, Syria gets the northwestern part as a puppet of Russia, Jordan and Israel split parts of lower Syria bordering them and Lebanon, maybe Turkey gets the Armenia and Azerbaijan and the northern part of Iran to the Caspian Sea, Iraq gives up the northern part of itself in exchange for a chunk of Iran bordering the Persian gulf. Or hell, maybe Turmp and Putin are thinking, just split Iran, southern half goes to the US, northern half to the Russians. Sets up Russia working to reunite the Soviet Union. They both get oil reserves and the US gets firm control of the Persian Gulf while Russia gets Caspian Sea access. No more Iran to worry about, and they can start developing/mining the mountains too.
