So in a professional work environment- A meeting perhaps, you would stand up and tell them in a harsh rude way to "Shut up". Seriously give me a break -_-

Also, I am not being a pussy- I am showing some respect to people who apparently don't have as much. It's called being mature.

Obviously they are not very close to the professor if he cannot hear them.

Why don't you just go sit close to the professor at the front of the class if you're so damn concerned with what's going on in the lecture?

My parents pay for my college as long as I get good grades. There is a time and place for me to have fun. Sitting in a lecture hall disturbing the people around me is NOT the place. I am not about to waste their money, nor do I want a student record to reflect poorer grades than I am capable of.

I already said that I may move towards the center and middle of the lecture hall.

Like I said guys, me telling them to shut up is going to cause a larger disturbance than us all sitting here dealing with it. Seriously, is the guy this new to talking with girls or something??? I have friends in my class and I don't feel the urge to make them giggle all period or talk to them.

By do people learn, I mean- Do people start caring more about their expensive education so that they might just sit and learn? (ie: Be mature and stop acting like a bunch of little teenagers)

Most college students view it as a FREE education, because their parents are paying for it. I know firsthand, because mine did. I never talked in class, though. If I didn't want to be there, I would just leave (or not go).

If your parents aren't paying for college, well, it sucks to be you (but still good for you for realizing the value of education). I hope you're going to a cheap state school, in-state, or you have scholarships/grants. Otherwise, have fun with the student loans until you're 35.

I'm in state at Virginia Tech. My parents pay for College as long as I receive good grades (Preferably B or better, but they realize that it is hard and it isn't a strict line).

Tuition per semester is roughly $13,000 in State + Books. I honestly don't know what it is out of state.

I understand that you are trying to be the bigger man. However, you are no in a professional work enviromment, you are in a freshman physics class and if they are making it hard for you to follow the lecture just go ahead and tell them to shut up. Those who don't pay attention will get bad grades and they will weed themselves out. In my junior and senior classes, if somebody was making noise while a lecture was going on, the professor would ask them to leave the class.

Thanks!

I see what you are saying. I just don't want to come off rude or anything (Even though I know it isn't rude to ask them to be quiet in a Lecture).

I'll just move somewhere else in the class. It is a 200 person lecture class so no worries- I'll work something out.

People that do that in class will ALWAYS do that.

On a similar note, you can tell them to stfu - this isn't high school.

You can do one of two things:

1) Talk with the professor. Depending on their personality, they might tell you to get lost or they might kick those students out of class.

2) Sit near the front where people do not talk.
