P35 GA DS3P MOBO

2 GIG OF RAM 8500

ATI 1650 256 RAM - idle temperature stays at 56 C playing bf 2142 rise up to 75 C

Well, I'm running a G0 with the retail HSF, overclocked to 2.88ghz

At full load with prime95 254

tjunction - 100C
cores ~70C

You should be running cooler with such a superior HSF and at a lower cpu speed.

He's right.

My Q6600 with stock cooler @ 3ghz runs 70-71C under FULL load (all 4 cores 100% with Orthos). Playing a game won't even load all 4 cores 100%.

I'm having troubles getting your second image to load (the load temps one). I just built a similar setup this weekend, just with a 680i and a P182 case. Same heatsink and fan. My idle temps are pretty much the same as yours, ~44C on two cores, ~40C on the other two at idle. Load was pumping out temps in the mid to upper 50s. Case fans are on low (idle core temps drop ~2C on high).

Those temps feel a little high for me as well, but right now I'm chalking it up to higher ambients (~25C) and break-in time for the AS5. Speaking of AS5, it was quite a pain to put a thin line on that chip, and I'm still not sure if I have too much. The tube is also about 4 years old, but I didn't see anything on the AS website saying it breaks down or anything, so that should be ok.

So, I can't say if they're normal, but at least you can be confident in the fact that there are other people out there pumping out the same numbers.

welkl what would you guys say is too hot, my Tjunction is at 100c ( I think) does that mean I can get my q6600 to those temps?
even if my Tjunction was 85c, does that mean I can be safe at that temp?

Thanks

No, originally tested with blend. Forgot that I was supposed to run small fft.

For the hell of it, I just bumped up to 3.0Ghz (9*333) @ 1.2375V to see what happened. Vdroop is coming in at 1.176V in CPU-Z. For some reason CPU-Z is reporting 2Ghz (333x6) and Coretemp is reporting 3Ghz (500x6, nvidia control panel is reporting this as well) but if I check settings in the bios or the nvidia control panel it shows a 9x multiplier and 333 FSB. C1E and Speedstep are disabled. Anyone have any ideas what's up with that?

Anyway, the cores are currently idling at 44,45,42,42 in Coretemp. Ambients at 26. Running small fft on prime95 across 4 cores, I'm sitting around 58,58,57,57 after about 40min. If there's a jump hours down the line, well, that's hours down the line. =) I'm actually shocked that all four cores have nearly the same temp. Fans in the P182 are still on low.

Update - hour averages:

Core 0 - 57.82790331
Core 1 - 57.82475039
Core 2 - 57.24829217
Core 3 - 57.24487651

Ambient temp seems to have dropped to 24.6 in the room, but the core temps barely wavered over the hour.
