My Samsung 830 128gb ssd is due to arrive any days now. I scoured this forum and the internet as to how to install the OS (windows7/64 home premium) on to the new SSD from my 1tb hdd. I am very new to this technology so bear with me. It seems I have 2 options and the steps for each options are as followed:

Option 1:
1. Purchase Paragon
2. Install Paragon
3. Install SSD into drive bay, connect sata cable and power cable.
4. Run Paragon and let it do it's thing.
5. Restart Computer and get into Bios and change to ACHI.
6. Change boot order.
7. Uinstall Windows 7 from the 1tb hdd.
8. Profit???

Option 2:
1. Turn off Computer
2. Install SSD into drive bay, connect sata cable and power cable.
3. Unplug 1tb hdd sata cable from motherboard.
4. Turn on computer and install motherboard bios and change to ACHI.
5. Install Windows 7 to SSD.
6. Update all drivers.
7. Turn off computer.
8. Replug 1TB hdd to motherboard and power supply.
9. Turn on Computer and uninstall windows 7 from 1TB hdd (or do I have to reformat the 1TB hdd?)
10. Profit???

Let's say everything goes according to plan. How do I set it to where all of my downloads will go my 1tb and not to SSD?

Please feel free to make any changes or add on any steps that I may have missed. Thank you in advance for any assistance, advices and tips.

That depends on your browser, but here are instructions for most browsers:

https://www.google.com/search?sourc...GLG_enUS316US316&q=Default+downloads+location

Example, I save all my downloads to a RAID1 data array in a folder called /DOWNLOADS. In there are folders for every originator/source.

Also, setup your Temporary Internet Files to go automatically to your 1TB drive and not your SSD. That is done in your browsers /TOOLS section or equivalent.

You mean enter bios?

There is no uninstall, but you can delete it without messing up your data.
Delete the 100MB partition on the 1TB drive (unless you encrypted the drive with bitlocker).
And delete the windows directory, and program files directory (on the 1TB drive that is) and you would have removed windows 7 from it.

Yes I meant to enter the bios. Thanks for the instruction on removing Windows from the 1TB drive.

You can also change the default download location easily in Windows 7; just right click the downloads folder in explorer and change it's default location :p
