Please teach a newbie how to overclock w/Abit KT7.

Ok I'm connected my L1 bridges on my 650 Duron but I'm not sure what bios setting I need to alter? Do I just change the CPU operating speed, multiplier, and core voltage?

Abit KT7
Duron 650
ALPHA 6035
crucial p133 128mb
vodoo3 3000 agp
Quantum Fireball 15gig

You got it. As long as you've correctly connected the L1 bridges all you have to do is alter the BIOS settings in the SoftMenu III area. With your setup 850-900 should be doable ...

Thanx CTweak,
I wasn't sure if i was understanding it correctly. One more question please, when I adjust the CPU speed the multiplier automatically adjusts, should this happen or do i adjust it?
Thanx for the help.

Yeah just let it adjust the multiplier as you up the speed. The only 2 things you should really need to change are that and the voltage if it can't run at the speed you want (up it bit by bit until it's stable).

Yep, it automagically adjusts the multiplier if you simply select a new speed (like setting it to 800, etc). Or you can choose "User define" and set the multiplier yourself. You can do the FSB speed up too if you want, but not much need to since the multiplier is adjustable.

Oh yea, and watch the temps as you increase speed and voltage. Get over 50C and you're in the danger zone. My TBird 800 running @ 900 is currently at 34C idle, 44C under heavy load. That seems to be fairly normal temps for others too ...

My duron 650 ups to 850, runs about 44-45c under normal load. Anything above that isn't perfectly stable, and doesn't seem to make that much difference.

Love my kt7-raid...best board I've ever had.
