Here are some general tips reguarding viruses -
1) If you don't know what an attachment is - DON'T OPEN IT
2) If you receive an attachment from someone you don't know - DON'T OPEN IT
3) If you receive an attachment ending in .vbs or .exe - DON'T OPEN IT
4) Virus scanners are usually only effective AFTER you have received a virus, they rarely catch an inbound virus
5) Don't click and open suggestive attachments such as "Click Me", or "fun", "happy holidays", "love", ect.
6) If you get an email with any such attachment listed above, simply delete the email
7) 99% of viruses can be avoided, follow the precautions above and you can protect yourself from most viruses out there

If you get a virus warning on your laptop @ home don't rush into your office the next day plug into the docking station and log on to the corporate network to email tech support.
Real case some time ago.
