Please recommend software for video/photo/music slide show

Hi all,

I have been tasked with making a video/photo slideshow (with music for the photos) for a youth banquet.

This is something I haven't done previously so any advice is also appreciated.


Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have no idea about freeware slideshow maker. I recently use my WinX HD Video Converter (grabbed from GOTD) to make a slideshow for my best friend's wedding anniversary, deadly easy and decent, alas, it's shareware that regularly charges $35.95.

windows movie maker comes free with windows (you have to download it separately though)and does all you ask,plenty of tutorial videos on youtube asswell.
aviutl is another nonlinear video editor that is completely free and very decent.

ffmpeg is a comandline tool that does everything,if you're into programming it might even seem easier to you than using a gui,it has a complete manual on it's main page,also you will find anything you need with a simple searchengine query.

You can do this using Windows Movie Maker.
It is easy to use, just a simple drag and drop though.

SO...is there any secret to getting movie maker to work with mp4's or do you need to convert them to WMV?

Also, does movie maker do all the flashy animations etc?

it does support mp4

Far as I remember it does have some transitions but "all the flashy animations" it does not have.
