Hi,

I don't know if it's a bug, but my Netscape 4.79 mail crashes alot lately. I have never looked for an alternative before, but which stand alone email clients could you recommend that can perfectly import my NS 4.79 emails, is secure, and preferably has a similar interface. With similar interface I mean that I like the fact that in NS mail you can your layout so that your mail folders are top left, list of messages top right and the active message full width bottom. Is it true that with Outlook for example it's impossible to have your message full width of the screen (that the mail folders are always on the left)?!

Anyway, which email clients do you recommend that are similar to NS mail. Is Eudora a good choice? How is the layout as I explained above? Which others?

Thanks for all good suggestions!

I checked, but Opera does NS 6/7, not 4. Sounds like you are pretty far behind...

I was going to ask the same question. I got several files with e-mail messages that I got using netscape 4.7x..... I am not sure if thunderbird would do.

Thanks for any suggestion folks.

I just looked at mozilla, and the email client allows importing of mails from communicator 4.x to mozilla.
(I think that's what I did a long time ago, too)

Pretty sure thunderbird has the same capability, although I don't have it installed so I can't check.

Maybe someone with TB can verify this?

Thunderbird gives me the options of importing Communicator 4.x, Eudora, Outlook, and Outlook Express. I don't know if that helps you or not. And yes, it does support the layout you want.

However, Thunderbird really needs the much delayed 1.1 release. The official release was definitely rushed, IMHO.

Cheers.
