Free or commercial, doesn't matter.

I am looking for the simplest, most cartoon-like GUI possible.

All the client needs to do is connect to remote site and then drag and drop files.

Any ideas?

FileZilla is free, BPFTP costs $$$, both are nice and most FTP clients have the exact same interface, local files on left, remote files on right, drag and go.

I've become jaded after reading how people describe XP's interface as cartoonlike. Basically, big colorful icons and simplicity is what I am looking for for this client. Fewer buttons, the better.

Try smartftp then.

And we've come full circle, since that's what I use myself! After checking out all of the above mentioned ones, they all appear pretty similar. I guess I was looking for the Fisher-Price "My First FTP Client" equivalent.

With all due respect to the Filezilla croud, this hardly looks clean or aestetically pleasing. I'm sure it works well, but a prety GUI was my objective.

It's drag and drop. How could it be anymore difficult?

Top is status, left is local machine, right is remote machine, bottom is transfer queue.

Indeed, it has all the neccesary elements of a good FTP client. But for a novice user who needs to be using FTP, I want something with a prettier interface. Some people, upon instaling XP, will immediately switch to Classic view as they like the simplicity or more muted colors and shapes. Other people like the eye candy of the dfaulty theme. This client of mine likes eye candy...simple.

I had a similar problem, except I needed a client that could do SSL encryption as well as be easy to use and designed for stupid users. FileZilla was the closest I could find to that.
