Please recommend an external USB harddrive

I gonna recommend you buy the Antec MX-1, and when you get it, tear apart your WD and install the 500 GB in the new enclosure. If the old drive is fine, you're good to go. If it's not, buy any other drive that suits your fancy, and install it in the new enclosure.
And try not to drop it this time. 😀
 
Western Digital Passport. I absolutely love the thing, although I admit I have been using it less since I have discovered U3 thumb drives.
